Notes From Home
Apples

We've been so busy this summer at the shop, but relief from the rain has driven us out to enjoy this lovely Island in any moments we can find.  The apples are ripening! August finally brought some real summer days and September, while chilly in the mornings, is beautiful.  This photo is of a wild tree which carries such a load  of apples it's amazing.  And they're delicious, too!  They smell just like our Red Apple Rectangle Goat's Milk Soap (which is out of stock at the moment, but should be fully cured in about six weeks.)

Blackberries!   The raspberries were a non-event this summer, but the blackberries are making up for it.  They're big and juicy and absolutely delicious!  Even the dogs love to eat them.  Our Blackberry Rectangle Goat Milk Soap was a hit, too.  The new batch will be ready to ship in around six weeks.

Fireweed Fluff
I declined to photograph the Fireweed's soggy blooms earlier this summer, but the ethereal seed pods dancing on the breezes are beautiful in the September sunlight.  Oh, what a bit of sunshine can do for one's mood!  Also drinking in the fabulous rays is the Goldenrod, a visual delight but a scourge to our eyes and nasal passages.  Remember to wash your hands and face frequently to remove pollen that could get rubbed into your eyes and nose.

Goldenrod
At the shop, the flowerbeds are finally getting planted!  After months of mud it's exciting to see perennials, herbs and flowers being tucked into their new homes.  We're planting many of the ingredients we use in our soaps, such as lavender and chamomile.  This echinacea seems happy!   Look for more pictures on our Facebook page.

Julia and Kids
A Busy Summer!

Labour Day, the first indication that summer is drawing to a close, has come and gone and the kids have started back to school.  We'd like to thank all of our customers for a wonderful summer here at the shop.  It has been a particularly busy one this year, between the renovations, all the adorable baby goats, an online promotion on the internet that went viral and even higher than expected numbers of visitors here to the shop.  We built a new, larger parking lot and it was still full!  We were so happy to see you all and make so many new friends.

The end of summer has some of our shelves looking a little bare, however, and we are out of stock in several of our soaps.  If you're looking to place an online order and don't see your favourite, it should be fully cured in about six weeks.  Worry not!  We haven't discontinued any of our scents!  (Our Hand Milled Soaps, featured in this month's survey, below, are still fully stocked)

Remember, we always include a free sample of one of our products in each and every order we send out, just to give you a chance to try something new.  This month you'll find a nourishing Milk Bath tucked into your package, to rejuvenate tired, sun-dried skin!  Let us know what you think!
Cosmo and Domino with their New Human
A New Home!

Cosmo and Domino have been adopted!  Gary and Tanya waited patiently all summer until the goats were old enough to move to their new home, then Gary came and picked them up.  He even let them drive home in the back seat of his car!

(For anyone who would like to adopt a goat, Adem and Mr. Bean would make great additions to a herd, and Prince, who was born last fall and has been fixed, would love to come home with you!  See some photos in this blog post.)

For more news about the goats and the goings on here on the farm,
check out our blog.  Gertie the Head Goat is back from her summer vacation with stories to tell!  (There's the cutest picture of Diana, who seems to have been getting modelling advice from Rosemary!)

The Great Canadian Soap Co.Another "Shipping" Option

Several people inquired this summer about having us gather together an order that could be picked up by friends or family who were visiting the Island.  By all means!  If you can't make it to PEI to visit us but know someone who can, you can either call us at 1-800-793-1644 and tell us what you'd like or, even easier, you can place your order online and choose the "In Store Pickup" shipping option.  Just let us know in your order notes who we can expect to pick it up and when!  (And by the way, the buy-more-get-more promotion in the retail shop applies here, too!  Have your friends pick out some extra bars!)

Jan and a New FriendThanks for the Pictures, Jan!
(and good luck with the goats!)

"Greetings from Ohio, USA!!

My husband and I visited your charming shop during our recent vacation and I thought I would share some of my favorite photos of our visit. Needless to say, I fell in love with Diana and Athena and of course ever since our visit, I have been hounding my husband to buy some goats for me!! I have even resorted to taping up pictures of goats on his bathroom mirror just to remind him. I'm on a mission, after all---I want some goats!!!! I've talked to people who raise them, so I have "gotten the scoop" and am all primed and ready. We have the room, we are zoned for them---so what's the problem? ---I keep asking him--I think he is afraid it will be like our cat situation. It all started with one cat, now we have six!!!! LOL!!!! Oh, well, I will keep working on him and keep you posted. Maybe I will just have to be happy with reading your newsletter and watching your videos. SIGH. How disappointing!!! I would MUCH rather have a little Athena or Diana jumping into my lap and nibbling my ear and giving me wet little kisses!!!

A Happy Goat!Anyway, here's the pics. By the way, I LOVE your soap!! I gave some to my friends and they said it "smelled good enough to eat", and I agreed, but told them to let their skin savor it instead. The lip balm is delectable also. Especially the lemon for summer. Yummy.
Say "Hi" to the kids for me!!!

Best Wishes,
Jan Ulrich"

Outdoor DiningSee You At The Café!

Thank you one and all who participated in last month's survey.  The information will be very helpful in planning our café!  You voted yes overwhelmingly to having a café on our property and would like to sit down and eat a quick lunch like soup and a sandwich or have a snack such as fruit, muffins or a healthy sweet with some juice, coffee or tea.  Yum!  We can't wait to share a meal!  We love the suggestion of picnic lunches and our imaginations are soaring with the possibilities.  The vote was split almost down the middle about the internet hot spot, with slightly more in favour than against.  Again, thanks for your comments and ideas!

As we do each month, we chose one participant at random to win the prize package.  Without further ado... Congratulations to a new subscriber,

Amanda Raybould from Riverview, New Brunswick!

 Enjoy your goodies, Amanda!

Now for this month's chance to win $100 of great stuff . . .

Hand Milled Soaps and Calendula FlowersWhich Scents Make Sense To You?

Our Hand Milled Soaps were so popular this summer we were hard pressed to keep them on the shelves.  They are particularly gentle, moisturising and nourishing due to the extra additions of more farm fresh goat milk, grapeseed oil and apricot oil to our already fabulous original Goat Milk Soap.  These soaps are luxuriously lovely for your face or sensitive skin and well worth the extra time we take to make them.

We are now adding three new Hand Milled Soaps to our selection and we need your help to decide which scents to offer!  Take this simple, multiple choice survey to let us know your preferences and get your chance to
win a $100 prize package choc full of our best-selling products!
We'll choose one person at random from all those who participate.
Will you be our next winner?
