Tomorrow is Women's Day 2012

Women???s Day is a celebration of the economic, policital and social achievements of women around the world. In Burkina Faso, today is an official holiday, and women celebrate by wearing festive clothing, decorated with a different pattern each year.

L'OCCITANE has sourced its shea butter from women???s cooperatives in Burkina Faso for over two decades. Since its creation, the L'OCCITANE Foundation has been committed to the emancipation of women and has partenered with the NGO Aide et Action since 2009 to build and support literacy centers for Burkinabe women. Since 2006, over 1500 women have attended literacy classes.
A Fair Trade Fundraising Soap
For the second year, L???OCCITANE has created a solidarity soap to support the emancipation of Burkinabe women. The soap has been manufactured by the women of a local hand craft workshop, which received equipment and training from L???OCCITANE. 100%* of the proceeds from the sales of this soap will be donated to Aide et Action to support literacy programs for women in Burkina Faso.
